Someone pointed out that I forget to be grateful for things.
- Smashing Pumpkins - 1979: a song I'll probably never tire of.
- Derek: who reminds me of the lights up in the mountains -- they don't figure in my daily life at all, but when I do see them they always surprise me with how beautiful they are.
- Instant messaging: most days I find it barely tolerable, but sometimes it's just necessary.
- Phantom of the Opera - Music of the Night: a rainy day, full-volume speakers, the barest hints of silver light weeping through my curtains. And my bed.
- AIESEC: a black hole for all of my good intentions, but the best people I've ever met.
- Ideas that make you go: Hey, how about that?
- Sushi: if I could give the Japanese civilization a hug, I so totally would.
- Those small, incremental innovations that make you question how you ever got through life without them.
- Those majestic, improbable people who make you question how you ever got through life without them.
- My Poppa: because he's alive and well.
- Holiday quasi-flings: because, all shallowness aside, they affirm me.
- Books and journal articles: because they feed into my delusions.
So there.
